Ghana left-back Gideon Mensah returns to RB Salzburg after successful loan spell with relegated-Bordeaux
Ghana defender Gideon Mensah has returned to his parent club RB Salzburg after a successful loan spell with relegated-Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1.
The 23-year-old joined the club on a season-long loan deal last summer from Salzburg and went on to become a fan favorite at the club.
However, Bordeaux failed to exercise their option for a permanent deal following their relegation.

His contract with Salzburg runs out in 2024.
The highly-rated defender is expected to fight for a place in Salzburg’s first team next season.

He has previously featured for Belgian side Zulte Waregem, Vitória S.C. in Portugal on loan.
Mensah made his debut for the Ghana national team in the 2021 AFCON qualifier against South Africa in 2019
He was part of the Black Stars team in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations that was eliminated at the group stage of the competition.
