Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari reacts to calls for his return into the Black Stars
Hearts of Oak star Sulley Muntari has reacted to calls for his return into the Black Stars ahead of the crucial World Cup play-off against Nigeria later this month.
The 37-year-old has been in blistering form since joining the Phobians as a free agent last month. He was instrumental when Hearts of Oak defeated Kotoko 2-1 to win the President Cup last Friday.
He scored his first goal for the rainbow boys when they defeated WAFA 2-1 in matchday 19 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
Having being on top form, a chunk of Ghanaians have clamored for his return into the Black Stars squad for the Nigeria game.
But the former Inter and AC Milan star who is pleased such calls believes Hearts of Oak is the most important thing at the moment.
Asked about how he feel about calls for his inclusion, he said, “I’m pleased but the most important thing is Hearts of Oak now”
“I came in, I got the chance to play for the club, it’s a big team here, the guys are amazing, coach and the staff also. So, I am very pleased to be here and also the fans are making things right, I’m home and it’s just joy to be here” he told StarTimes which was monitored by Footballghana.com
The Black Stars will play the Super Eagles in a two-legged encounter with the winner of both legs securing qualification to the biggest soccer mundial in Qatar.
Ghana will play host to Nigeria on March 25, 2022 before the reverse fixture at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on March 29, 2022.
Interim coach Otto Addo is yet to announce his squad for the games against Nigeria.
