GHANA PREMIER LEAGUE: Kurt Okraku wades into player exodus
The Ghana Football Association President Kurt E. S. Okraku has waded into the talks of player exodus in the Ghana Premier League.
The issue of mass player exodus in the country has become a subject of discussion due to the numerous number of talents the local League has lost.
This situation has left the domestic top-flight unattractive due to what people believe is as a result of lack of quality players in the League
The League has already lost two of it top stars to Algerian clubs in just the first round of the League.
Speaking exclusively to FootballMadeInGhana.com on the issue, the former Executives Director of Dreams FC said,
“Naturally people would want the star names to stay within the country and to add value to the league.
“Unfortunately we are in a developing world and the competition from other countries are fast growing.
“We want as much as possible to improve upon the footballing economy of the country to encourage more of our own to stay in the country.
The president also admitted it will be difficult to stop a player from seeking greener pastures due to the nature of the salaries in Ghana.
“But, it will be difficult to stop a player who is determined to seek higher wages and better working conditions to stay.
“It’s no doubt that a few of the players who travel outside the country later come back to help the course of our national team.
The second round of the Ghana Premier League will kick off on April 2, 2021.
