Ghana prodigy Felix Afena Gyan delivers ‘mum, I love you’ shoutout after heroics in Roma’s win over Genoa
Ghanaian youngster Felix Afena Gyan has delivered a heartwarming speech after heroics in AS Roma win over Genoa in the Serie A.
The 18-year-old climbed off the bench to score a remarkable brace to give Roma the 2-0 victory away to Genoa.
He had made two substitute appearance in the ongoing season before his swashbuckling performance last Sunday in his third Serie A game.
Afena-Gyan is the first player born in 2003 to find the net in Serie A, let alone to bag a brace, and even he seemed incredulous.
Speaking to DAZN, he said, “I thank God for this opportunity he gave me, the team, the coach, the fans, players for their amazing support. I also want to say thank you Mom, she is in Ghana, I love you,”
The Ghanaian prodigy heaped praise on his manager Jose Mourinho for his contribution towards his career.
“Mourinho is a great person, a great manager and a great coach. He gives you the motivation to learn every day. I am very happy he is here.
“Tonight is a dream come true. It was my first goal, I was hoping for a very long time. I want to continue my performance, prove myself and do more in future.”
