Ghana through to playoffs of WC qualifiers after winning protest case filed by SAFA at FIFA
Ghana has seen its qualification to the playoffs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup legitimized following a verdict from FIFA on the protest case by South Africa.
The Black Stars as the national team of the West African country is affectionately called, defeated the Bafana Bafana 1-0 in November to top Group G of the African qualifiers.
As a result, Ghana progressed to the final stage of the African qualifiers for next year’s global showpiece.
In an interesting turn of events, the South Africa Football Association frivolously run to FIFA with a protest seeking to have the final match of the qualifiers replayed after citing allegations of match manipulation.
The formal protest put Ghana’s qualification to the playoffs round in the balance as the country awaited the ruling from FIFA.
With FIFA dismissing the SAFA protest on Friday, the Black Stars can now jubilate and look ahead to the playoffs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
As reported by footballghana, Ghana will know its opponent on January 26, 2022, when the draw for the playoffs is held.
