Ghanaian footballers urged to stay focus
Former Great Olympics and Aduana Stars striker Tanko Mohammed has urged upcoming footballers to stay focus in order to earn a reputable living when they call it a quit.
Tanko is currently without a club after ending his spell with Ghana Premier League side Elmina Sharks.
The 32-year-old in an interview with Koforidua-based Aben FM recounted his biggest regret in his football career.
According to him, he made a lot of money in the game but suddenly lost everything due to his inability to stay focus.
He has therefore entreated the upcoming footballers in the country to stay focus so they won’t go through the hard times he experienced some years ago.
“I made money in football but unfortunately for me, I lost everything because I didn’t adhere to advise from people. I spent money lavishly, I’m being real so the upcoming footballers can learn something out of it”
“But I give thanks to God because I wouldn’t have learnt my lesson if I hadn’t gone through such life. I learnt a lot of things from the life I was living at the time”
“There are a lot of things I couldn’t do in the game but what I regret most was not adhering to advice from good friends and relatives. My name became a household name in the country. I was living a good life then; I had my car so I moved to places to enjoy myself. I had my belongings at times in my car but when I started losing some meaningful things in life, I became focus” he said.
Tanko Mohammed disclosed he has not called it a quit and has promised to return to the pitch.
