Ghana’s Abdul-Aziz Yakubu scores winner for Rio Ave against Trofense
Over the weekend, Abdul-Aziz Yakubu scored as Rio Ave defeated CD Trofense by a single goal to climb atop the Portuguese second tier league.
Rio Ave leapfrogged Casa Pia at the top of the standings when Abdul-Aziz Yakubu converted a penalty in the 35th minute at the Estadio de Arcos.
Before being replaced in the 81st minute, the Ghanaian attacker was superb in the last third of the pitch, posing a threat to the Trofense defense.
Abdul-Aziz Yakubu has ten goals in 27 league appearances this season while on loan from Vitoria Guimaraes.
The former FC Vizela youth player has featured for Vitoria SC U23, FC Vizela, Vitoria SC, and Estoril Praia.
While on loan at Estoril Praia last season the 23-year-old scored 12 goals in 28 games.
