Ghana’s Thomas Partey to be considered for captaincy role at Arsenal

Ghana international, Thomas Partey is to be considered for the captain role at Arsenal, footballghana.com sources have reported.

The English Premier League club on Tuesday afternoon confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been stripped from his role as club captain.

The decision was taken in agreement with manager Mikel Arteta due to indiscipline issues.

“Following his latest disciplinary breach last week, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will no longer be our club captain, and will not be considered for selection for Wednesday’s match against West Ham United.

“We expect all our players, particularly our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed,” a statement from Arsenal has said.

According to sources, Thomas Partey is amongst the players at Arsenal being considered for the captain role.

He is high on the list and could get the nod after showing leadership at the club since his move from Atletico Madrid.
