Gideon Jung injures knee could be out for months
During the warm-up program before the game against Arminia Bielefeld, Gideon Jung injured his knee. He was actually intended for the starting line-up of the Furth, but was unable to participate. It seems that the encounter with the DSC will not be the only game that the newcomer will miss: He threatens to be out in the long term.
“We have to wait. But it looks like the meniscus and a ligament have been damaged, ”said Sport Director Rachid Azzouzi on Sunday about the current situation at Jung. According to the kicker, the 26-year-old now has to undergo an operation and could then not be available for months.
Shortly after the game, it was already clear that the injury was not a minor one. “Overall, I can say: It doesn’t look that good,” said coach Stefan Leitl at the press conference on Saturday.
However, Azzouzi does not feel any personal pressure from the failure. “Regardless of this story, we wanted to do something else in defense. But Justin Hoogma did his job very well and Hans Sarpei can also play this position ”, the 50-year-old trusts the already existing forces. “That does not mean that we are under additional pressure to act.”
