GPL Match Report; Goldstars claw back twice to earn valuable draw

Bibiani Goldstars twice came from behind to earn their second point on the road this season.

Goldstars visited Obuasi to play as guests of Ashantigold who were seeking to bounce back to winning ways having lost last weekend.

The away side made the best possible start as they were awarded a penalty in the 30th minute.

Goldstars missed a glorious opportunity as the effort from 18 yards came off the crossbar to provide relief for Ashgold.

Five minutes later, Gold Stars would rue the early miss as the Miners would also be awarded a penalty after Ashgold forward Yaw Annor was brought down in the box.

Annor dusted himself up to convert and give Ashgold the lead at half-time.

The second half resumed in the same fashion just as the first started and Goldstars pressure would eventually reap rewards.

Emmanuel Appau leveled for Goldstars in the 52nd minute.

The home side would regain the lead 9 minutes later after Frank Akoto converted a beautiful opportunity.

Ashgold were however not able to hold on to their lead as Goldstars new signing Prince Opoku Agyemang found a late leveler to give his side a precious point.

The result means Goldstars managed just two points from their trips on the road in the first round.
