GPL Report: Karela United 2-1 Aduana Stars, Diawisie Taylor’s brace seals Karela’s comeback win as title charge continues
Karela United survived an early scare to secure a crucial comeback win over Aduana Stars on Saturday thanks to a Diawisie Taylor brace.
Aduana Stars had the home side’s heart rate beating faster than normal at the CAM Park when they took an early lead in their Match Week 17 clash. Bright Adjei opened the scoring for the Ogya Lads after just 7 minutes from kick-off.
The home side settled and played their game as they chased the encounter. Their efforts were however not in vain as top striker Diawisie Taylor equalized after 42 minutes. It was the striker’s 11th goal of the season and ensured his side went into the break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Back from recess, Karela relentlessly pushed forward for the second goal as they searched for another home win.
Aduana Stars, playing under Coach Asare a Bediako for the first time held on tightly at the back. However their resolve will be broken with barely minutes to end the game.
Diawisie Taylor pounced again and netted the third goal of the game. It was his side’s second and his personal brace too.
Karela strolled to a precious 2-1 win from there as they kept their title quest well on course.
The Nzema Ayinase based side were sitting top of the table prior to the game and they consolidate their lead after this result.
They now have 31 points, 4 more than second placed Great Olympics who play on Sunday away at in-form Dreams FC.
The result also serves as double joy for Diawisie Taylor whose two goals sees him establish a 2 goal lead over his closest contender for the GPL top scorer award. The crafty attacker now has 12 goals this season.
For Aduana Stars, the defeat compounds their poor away form with Coach Asare Bediako left with no option than to find an immediate solution to this challenge.
