Hearts will defend GPL title – Frank Nelson
Hearts of Oak Board member, Frank Nelson has confidently assured fans the Phobians will defend their Ghana Premier League title this season despite a wobbling start.
Hearts of Oak drew a blank in the Premier League opener against Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium and that result meant for the fourth consecutive season, the Phobians have failed to record a win in their opening game of the season.
The Phobians’ shaky start has already got tongues wagging and claiming last season’s champions will not be able to win the league this season.
Frank Nelson, Board Member of Hearts of Oak, holds a contrary opinion to that of the masses and believes the team’s slow start will have no bearing on their chances of retaining the title.
“If I want to take you back from where we started last season, Kotoko was leading us with 4 points at a point for weeks and we started very badly but eventually we turned the tables and won the league”, Frank Nelson stated.
“So, first game with one point, I don’t think it’s a reason for our supporters to complain, yes I understand the supporters’ anger because they wanted good results and a winning side especially with Kotoko leading us” – He added.
“We are so much focused, there are more games to play, I think we should be patient, we never say die and at the end of the day, we will turn the table, and defend the league.” He concluded.
Hearts of Oak face WAFA in their next game in the Ghana Premier League on Friday.
