Hertha Berlin satisfied with Kevin-Prince Boateng’s mentality
The most spectacular signing of Hertha BSC in the transfer summer so far is Kevin-Prince Boateng. The midfielder returns to the beginning towards the end of his illustrious career and is supposed to lead the old lady as the lead wolf. The 34-year-old is well received by his colleagues.
“He played against the greatest players in the largest stadiums in Europe. Every player can learn something from him,” Sport Bild quotes Arne Maier. The top talent is still waiting for the final breakthrough in the capital city, the presence of Boateng could possibly free a few percent for the German Olympic participant. “Nobody embodies Berlin more than he does,” says Maier of the veteran.
“Clear guy who likes to knock you out”
This also includes a certain ‘Kodderschnauze’, which Davie Selke noticed at Boateng. “He’s a clear guy who likes to knock you out,” says the person sitting next to you in the Hertha cabin. As a communicator, Boateng has become indispensable for the old lady after just a few weeks. “He’s good for the troupe, he’s a man of mentality,” said Selke, even paying tribute to the former Ghanaian national player.
Dardai: “The question is, of course, is it enough for 90 minutes?”
However, the question of how much Boateng can still help athletically remains unanswered. Since his departure from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018, the midfielder has kicked for US Sassuolo, FC Barcelona, AC Florence, Besiktas and most recently the Italian second division AC Monza. “The question is, of course, whether it’s enough for 90 minutes. He’s doing well, as he promised, and he’s behaving very professionally,” said Pal Dardai, satisfied with Boateng’s stand. It is obvious that Hertha BSC does not plan the old master for 34 games over the full distance.
