‘I expect this team to go all the way’- Kurt Okraku on Ghana’s chances in 2021 AFCON

President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku is confident he expects the Black Stars can win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The four-time Africa Champions are on the quest for an elusive fifth AFCON trophy at the continental showpiece which kicks off on Sunday.

Ghana are pitted in Group C alongside former champions Morocco, Gabon and debutants Comoros.

Since their last win in 1982, the Black Stars have gone close to winning the Afcon title on three different occasions in recent times, the latest being a penalty-shootout loss to Ivory Coast in 2015.

Speaking in an interview with ghanafa.org ahead of the Ghana’s opening game against the Atlas Lions on Monday, Kurt Okraku insists the current squad is capable of ending the country’s 40-year wait for another Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

“To put it blunt, I expect this team to go all the way. I’ve not seen a collection of young but united warriors like we currently have in this squad. Twenty Eight (28) warriors who ready to represent their country, ready to make their country proud and i think the atmosphere around the team, the preparation, the work of the Technical team will eventually pay off” the FA Chief said.
