The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, fired Eguavoen, Amunike, and the whole Super Eagles coaching staff on Thursday after Ghana drew 1-1 with Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola Stadium to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

“I have no regret coming on board to join the technical crew, I would have turned them down, it was an opportunity to serve Nigerians and I hope I will be in a better position next time to serve,” he told Brila

“I was once the coach of Tanzania and it was Nigerians that demanded me to come, so I have no regret accepting the challenge, but as I said, we just have to find the strength to move from here. It is a difficult moment for everyone, including myself.”

Amunike had formerly turned down offers to work as an assistant coach for former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, but changed his mind after Eguavoen was named temporary manager in February.

Nigerian fans on social media have urged the NFF to apologize to former coach Gernot Rohr according to the fans he would have sealed a qualification spot for Nigeria.
