I spoke to Michael Essien before making Stade Rennais move- Kamaldeen Sulemana
Ghanaian winger, Kamaldeen Sulemana has revealed that he spoke to Black Stars legend Michael Essien before making the switch to Stade Rennais.
The 19-year-old was a subject of huge transfer speculation but in the end made the choice to play for the Ligue 1 side, signing a five-year deal.
During his unveiling, he revealed that he sought wisdom from Essien, who played in the French league during his younger days.
“I didn’t speak to any player from Ghana who played here,” the winger stated.
“The only player I spoke to is [Michael] Essien because he is a coach in FC Nordsjaelland and he’s also my neighbour, so we spoke about this league.
“And of course he played in Bastia with Florian and also played in Lyon, so I also spoke to him about the league here and how interesting it could be for my development.”
Kamaldeen is currently with his new teammates in preseason training.
