I will do my possible best to get Benjamin Afutu back to the team – Hearts coach Samuel Boadu
Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Samuel Boadu has promised to do everything possible to get midfielder Benjamin Afutu back to the team.
The enterprising midfielder who played a key role towards the clubs double-winning season is currently out of contract with the Phobians.
The rainbow boys is believed to be keen to offer Afutu an extension but agreement is yet to be reached with both parties.
Despite being out of contract he was included in Samuel Boadu’s CAF Champions League squad.
The 25-year-old was not in action when Hearts of Oak defeated CI Kamsar in their first preliminary game at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday.
In an interview, Samuel Boadu admitted Afutu’s absence was felt in the game despite their victory and has promised to do everything possible to get him back to the team.
“No one can say Afutu’s absence wasn’t felt. Even off the field of play, he is very discipline and I love the boy so much and I wish he’s here with us. For Afutu, no doubt I will do my possible best to get him back.”
Meanwhile, the Phobians will play Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the next stage of the competition.
The winner will progress to the group stages of the competition whereas the loser will drop to the CAF Confederations Cup.
