I will prefer winning AFCON more than qualifying to the World Cup - Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu

Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says he would prefer Ghana won the Africa Cup of Nations title in Cameroon than qualify for the next World Cup tournament in Qatar.

Ghana have not won the AFCON title since 1982 after beating hosts Libya on penalties.

The Stars have come close to ending the trophy drought, having lost in the 2010 and 2015 finals to Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.

“For me, I will prefer winning the Afcon even more than qualifying to the World Cup, that is my opinion,” Badu told Starr FM.

“I have gone to five Afcons, I won the U20 World Cup, I know what I have gained when I won it.

“So just imagine after 40 years, if these my brothers there can win the Afcon, it will be a huge impact on their career and for the nation, so I will prefer that.”
