Inclusion of new players in Nigeria squad for Ghana games not the best - Siasia faults Eguavoen

Former Nigeria head coach, Samson Siasia has expressed concern to the Super Eagles squad assembled for the clash against Ghana this month.

Later this month, the Super Eagles will take on the Black Stars in what will be the final clash to fight for a ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 25-man squad has some players from the team that played at the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament dropped.

Meanwhile, a few new additions have been made to bolster the squad for the Ghana showdown.

Speaking to Brila FM in an interview, Samson Siasia has faulted the squad put out by current Nigeria head coach Augustine Eguavoen.

According to him, the inclusion of new players could be catastrophic for the Super Eagles.

“You need to play people that understand themselves if you bring new ones it becomes difficult for them to understand themselves and play the partner you want to play,” Siasia shared.

He continued, “For me it’s not the right decision to bring new players, you are better off with the ones you know already that have been playing together and understand themselves because you have three days to practice before you go to Ghana. So for me this is not the right list.”

The first and second leg meetings between Ghana and Nigeria will be played on March 25 and 29th respectively.
