Asante Kotoko head coach Mariano Jeronimo Barreto has irresponsibly attacked the image of the President of the Ghana Football Association ahead of his side’s clash with Dreams FC on Saturday.

The Portuguese manager did not inly jump on match officials of the game, deliberately putting them under pressure to favour his side when the two clash, he ponderously roped in the GFA President to serve his cynical agenda.

The Portuguese, whose unpalatable utterances against match officials has seen him charged by the Ghana FA already, in his pre- match presser ahead of the game described the game as a ‘funny’ one since they will be playing the club of the GFA President.

Barreto’s wanton plan of roping in the president of the Ghana Football Association is a cynical attempt to intimidate the referees during the game and also to send signals the Match Officials favouring Dreams FC.

“It’s funny we are playing with a team whose owner is the President of the Federation,” Barreto told the club media, captured by their supporters union social media handles.

“I think it would be a good game. I hope everybody comes to help the game. When I say everybody, I am talking about Kotoko, Dreams and the referee,” he added.

With these comments ahead of the game, it will not be surprising to see the Kotoko manager appear before the Ethics Committee of the Ghana FA as his position is a potential threat to the professional running of the game.

Barreto’s comment has invited varied reactions from the public as Dreams FC has lost six games in the current season despite being the club of the GFA President.

The comments of the Portuguese manager appear a direct indictment on the image of the GFA President whose reign has seen a tremendous upsurge of football in the country.

Despite being the GFA President, Asante Kotoko recorded a big win over Dreams FC in the first round of the league away at Dawu, the home grounds of Dreams FC, making the comment of Barreto irresponsible and uncalled for.

Barreto could be hauled before the Ethics Committee of the FA for his unprovoked comments ahead of the game on Saturday.
