Jamie Leweling performs well in Furth’s defeat in Leipzig
Furth attacker Jamie Leweling was able to attract attention despite the 1-4 defeat in Leipzig. He was the player on the field, especially in the first half, and was involved in four of the seven shots on goal. In addition, over the full 90 minutes with 39 duels, he not only led the most duels of all Fürth people, 21 wins were also not topped by the Kleeblatt.
All the more astonishing since it was Leweling’s first starting eleven this season. Furth boss Rachid Azzouzi (50): “He played a very good game, especially before the break. I’m happy for him because he’s been on the rise since the preparation phase. ”The U21 international was stuck in a performance hole in the year of promotion, of all places.
He had previously caused a sensation as a shooting star at the Kleeblatt. Clubs like Tottenham, AC Milan or Schalke 04 took notice of him at the time (BILD reported). Since Leipzig you know again why. Even though Azzouzi says: “He now has to confirm such an achievement for a longer time.”
It’s good that the club has tied Leweling until 2024 before this season. If the attacker continues to play like this, the club will at least receive a generous amount of transfer proceeds.
