Kaizer Chiefs boss Stuart Baxter backs South Africa coach to recall Keagan Dolly

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has backed South Africa’s trainer Hugo Broos decision to recall Keagan Dolly ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Bafana Bafana who are keen to secure qualification to the next stage of the qualifiers will take on Zimbabwe and Ghana early this month.

Ahead of the much-anticipated games, Hugo Broos has included Keagan Dolly who spent four years in France before returning to South African shores, inking a lucrative deal with Kaizer Chiefs and becoming their marquee signing ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

After a slow start, the winger cut down in weight and saw his performances improve for the Glamour Boys.

His outstanding performances for the club did not go unnoticed as Broos included the former Mamelodi Sundowns forward in his final 24-man squad.

Reacting to Dolly’s callup, Stuart Baxter said, “With Keagan, I think it’s absolutely warranted; he’s been excellent in the games,” Baxter told reporters after Chiefs’ 1-0 defeat against Stellenbosch on Tuesday.

“He has worked very, very hard, and he’s showed since he came back from France that he’s not one of these [guys] who has a bit of experience abroad and therefore come back and show everyone how clever he is.

“He’s putting in serious shifts as the stats would show… I’m sure that’s something in the thoughts of Hugo.”
