Kofi Manu describes CK Akonnor’s sacking as senseless and baseless

Veteran football administrator, Kofi Manu ‘Blue Boy’ has described the sacking of Black Stars coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor as senseless.

The Ghana FA terminated the contract of Charles Kwabla Akonnor together with his two deputies on Monday following Ghana’s uninspiring performances against Ethiopia and South Africa in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The Ghana FA at its Executive Council meeting on Monday after the review and performance of the Black Stars in their last two games have changed direction to appoint a new coach.

A three-member committee led by Ghana FA Vice Chairman Mark Addo has been tasked to appoint a new coach in the next 72 hours.

In an interview with Sunyani-based Space FM, he said, “How could the Exco set up three-member committee to find a new coach for the National team without the Technical Director of the FA”

“This is absolutely useless and I have never seen or heard this before”

“The decision taken by the GFA Exco to terminate Coach CK Akonnor’ contract is senseless and baseless”

“The GFA President said it on Joy FM that this time round Exco would be involved in the coach’s selection, so why do u sack the coach alone when things get out of hand” he said.
