Liverpool extend best wishes to Salah, Mane, and Keita ahead of 2021 AFCON
English giants, Liverpool have wished trio leaving for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament the best of luck.
The Reds are just one of many clubs in England losing key players due to the AFCON being held between January 9, and February 6, 2022.
Prior to the departure of Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane, and Guinea’s Naby Keita, Liverpool assistant coach Pepijn Lijnders wished all players the best of luck on behalf of the club.
“I just told Naby, Mo, and Sadio that they should try to win the AFCON because it’s a prize to catch.
“Careers are never long and they deserve to fight for each prize. This prize comes in front of them now and it’s a tournament with so much passion,” Coach Pepijn Lijnders said.
He continued, “It’s a really proud situation if you can play for your country. They are African legends and are legends to me, and if they win it they will be more of a legend. They should try everything they have to win it.”
Egypt and Senegal are two of the few favourites tipped to go on and win the 2021 AFCON tournament set to be staged in Cameroon.
