Losing two matches in the first round was my biggest surprise – Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah
Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed that they did not achieve their target in the first round of the season but was surprised they lost just two games.
Kotoko under Prosper Narteh Ogum finished the first half of the 2021/22 season top of the summit with 37 points.
However, the Reds, who now sit to the log with 40 points following their win against Dreams FC following the start of the second round of the season suffered just two defeats in the course of the first round of the ongoing campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered their first defeat of the season to King Faisal in a 3-2 loss at the Baba Yara Stadium before a defeat also to Elmina Sharks at the Ndoum Sports Complex.
However, the young and enterprising football administrator speaking to Kumasi based Oyerepa FM revealed that they had an objective of amassing 40 points in the first round of the season but could not achieve it.
According to him, he was surprised Kotoko suffered two defeats in the first round of the season.
“We didn’t meet our target for the first round of the league, our target was to amass 40 points,” he said.
He added, “One of the surprises I have had is that we have lost two matches.” he added.
Kotoko will be hoping to keep the form intact when they travel to Bechem United in the matchday 19 games at Bechem Park.
