Majeed Ashimeru gives coach Vincent Kompany selection problems
This week, Vincent Kompany must make another decision. After all, Majeed Ashimeru made things difficult for him and he enjoyed it that way. With only his fourth start of the season, the Ghanaian demonstrates that he can contribute offensively more than Kristoffer Olsson.
“They both have their qualities and can help us in specific circumstances,” Kompany said earlier. Now the question is: what qualities does he need against Genk on Sunday? Olsson’s more conservative, controlling game or Ashimeru ‘s more hunting and vertical game?
In any event, Anderlecht will require all the assistance they can get in midfield. Thorstvedt and Hrosovsky are two superb footballing and powerful midfielders for Genk, although Bongonda and Ndiayashimiye also play center football on a regular basis.
Except for the penultimate match against Zulte Waregem, Ashimeru has only appeared this season when Olsson was unavailable. In it, he demonstrated again again his ability to generate opportunities with his running ability and pressure to the front, as demonstrated by Refaelov’s goal.
