Match Preview: Asante Kotoko vs Dreams FC, Porcupine eye top spot in ‘Revenge or Repeat’ grudge match vs Still Believe
Its a game of revenge or repeat when Asante Kotoko welcome Dreams FC to Obuasi on Saturday for a crucial Ghana Premier League Match Week Week 23 encounter.
The Porcupine Warriors had defender Imoro Ibrahim to thank as his sole striker at Dawu last year earned them a 1-0 win. That victory became the turning point for the side after a difficult start to the campaign; a run that eventually saw the dismissal of Coach Maxwell Konadu prior to the clash.
Both sides have made great progress since, with Kotoko chasing the title while Dreams FC are not far behind. Just four points separate the two sides. Asante Kotoko on 38 lie 3rd on the table while Dreams FC who are placed 4th have 34 points.
Asante Kotoko come into the game on the back of an impressive away win against Legon Cities and will want to return to winning ways at home following their last defeat at Obuasi to Medeama SC, two weeks ago.
The Porcupine Warriors will climb top of the table if they beat Dreams FC and will be hellbent on ensuring that when the referee’s whistle sounds for the game to start.
They are also helped by history, having not lost or drawn against Dreams at home.
Dreams FC’s away record this season also makes the game a difficult one for them. The Still Believe have just one win on the road this campaign, drawing 5 and losing 4 of the ten matches played away overall.
They will eye revenge against the Porcupine Warriors on Saturday but getting a win looks a tall order for Coach Vladislav Viric’s side.
Expect the home side to dominate and go on to clinch a win at full time.
The game is scheduled for 3pm kick off at the Len Clay stadium on Saturday and will be broadcasted live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247.
