Match Preview: AshantiGold SC vs Eleven Wonders, Miners eye 4th straight home win
AshantiGold SC welcome Eleven Wonders to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday as the two square off in a Ghana Premier League Match Week 23 fixture.
The clash presents an opportunity for the hosts to record what will be a 4th consecutive home win as they attempt to find some consistency in form and results this season.
It’s been a roller-coaster ride so far for the Obuasi based side, who have had several challenges spring up in the course of the season. The latest in what is a growing list of unsavory developments within the club is the sudden departure of new Coach Romain Folz.
Fresh from their victory last weekend to Elmina Sharks, the French tactician together with his assistant decided not to continue the Ashgold job and have eventually left the country.
This disturbing development means, Ashgold have had 4 coaching changes in just this season alone, a development which derails the agenda of management.
The club has struggled for form this season as well and has seen their faint title hopes extinguish in the past few weeks.
The Miners currently lie 10th on the league log with 11 points between them and top spot.
However they will eye another victory at home having won their last 3 home games. They will want to add struggling Eleven Wonders to their list of victims including Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars and Bechem United.
Their home form stands at 6 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat.
Eleven Wonders have been struggling to pick points recently in their away games, losing 4 and drawing 1.
After a good start to the campaign, Eleven Wonders have seen their season’s buzz fizzle out gradually.
Aside managing to get points at home, their form on the road breeds genuine concerns about their survival chances.
They have picked 21 of their overall points Tally of 25 at home meaning only 4 points have been won on the road.
They seriously need to arrest this poor run lest find themselves in an unwanted relegation fight.
Eleven Wonders now lie 14th, just two points above the relegation zone and failure to get something out of this game could see them in real danger.
The game should be intriguing but expect the home team to dominate and eventually cruise to a win.
The Match will kick off at 3pm GMT.
