Match Preview: Elmina Sharks vs AshantiGold, Miners to test might of Sharks’ home form

Elmina Sharks’ recent home form will be put to the test once again when they welcome AshantiGold SC in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Sharks enter this Match Week 22 encounter on the back of three consecutive victories at home. The Fearsome Sharks have beaten Asante Kotoko, Ebusua Dwarfs and WAFA by 1-0 score lines and will hope to repeat the dose over the visitors.

Presently, they find themselves in a strange position; being more close to the drop zone. Sitting 13th on 26 points, just 3 points separate Sharks and the relegation zone. They will therefore be keen to increase the points gap and avoid any involvement in a survival battle.

Although their points accumulated so far this season after 21 matches seem not too encouraging, Sharks can draw inspiration from the fact that they’ve won 22 of the 26 points in home games and will be eager to get more against Ashgold.

They must however dig deep since Ashgold seem a tricky customer on the road.

The Miners are unbeaten in their last three away games and come into this clash full of confidence following a home thumping of Bechem United last week.

New Coach Romain Folz is getting to grips with his side but its been encouraging so far with how he’s fared as the helmsman.

Their away form has been helped also by the performances of Goalkeeper Kofi Mensah.

The former Karela United shots topper has been in inspired form since joining and has definitely improved one main weakness in the side during the first round.

Expect a very tight encounter where both teams will be more cautious about opening up and taking the fight to their opponent.

Sharks’ home form should give them the Advantage but expect Ashgold to make things really difficult for them.

PREDICTION: Game ends in a draw with not more than 3 goals recorded after 90 minutes.
