Match Preview: Elmina Sharks vs WAFA, Fearsome Sharks eye drowning Academy Boys in deep blue seas

Elmina Sharks will attempt to drown the Academy Boys of WAFA in yet another deep blue sea of away defeats when the two sides clash on Saturday in the Ghana Premier League.

The Fearsome Sharks have found form at home at the right time under new Coach Nii Odartey Lamptey. The former National Team player took charge at a time when the club was going through difficult times.

Players were leaving amid poor results and financial challenges. The likes of Benjamin Tweneboah and Benjamin Arthur have all left to join Aduana Stars and AshantiGold SC respectively.

However, the former Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven playmaker has been able to turn things around, especially at home, where they’ve recorded consecutive wins.

Overall, Sharks’ home record stands at 5 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat.  They will be hoping to improve this when they face a WAFA side who aren’t good travelers in the domestic league.

The Academy Boys have picked a paltry 5 points in 10 away games. Their away record is made more abject considering their goal scoring and conceding rate. WAFA has scored 2 goals on the road and have allowed 13 goals along the ten game stretch. They have recorded just one win and lost 7 of these games.

This poor record will certainly be a worry for Coach Prosper Narteh-Ogoom whose side sit just 8 points above the relegation zone.
