Match preview: Legon Cities determined to derail Hearts’ progress

Published

Accra Hearts will go into their match week 30 fixture knowing that anything less than a win will not be good enough for their title ambitions this season.

Although they have had an impressive run of form, which has seen them win 6 out of their last seven games since the arrival of Samuel Boadu, they have been dethroned by Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the top of the table.

The Porcupine Warriors were inspired to victory by Fabio Gama who netted and supplied an assist in their 2-1 win over Karela United yesterday.

The win took the Porcupine’s points tally to 56 and helped them secure first spot in the process.

With an unpredictable super clash coming up over the weekend, the Phobians will be well aware that a win is needed to keep their title hopes alive.

Samuel Boadu’s men will thus have to go all out against a Legon Cities side who have refused to be tagged as under dogs prior to the crucial fixture.

Speaking at the pre match conference, the head coach of Legon Cities Bashir Hayford insisted that his side need not to be tagged as the underdogs and will go all out for the win.

“This is a big game but for us, we are just taking it to be one of the games ahead. We have prepared and trained extra hard for it. We know what is ahead of us and we are ready for it. We will go all out for three points, ” Hayford said at a presser ahead of the game.

“We are not going into this game as the underdogs. Not at all. We don’t need to be termed as the underdogs. This will be a very difficult game, of course. If we go into the game with the right mentality, mindset and attitude, we can win.”
