MATCH REPORT: Gold Stars bag first victory in GPL
Premier League New boys Bibiani Gold Stars started their premier league campaign off to the best start as they beat Berekum Chelsea by 1-0 in their Premier League opener.
Gold Stars who are competing in the Ghana Premier League for the first time in the club’s history got off to a flyer as the home side constantly laid seige on the goal area of Berekum Chelsea.
The home side’s pressure eventually paid off and they got a deserved lead through Kingsford Boafo’s strike in the 53rd minute.
Chelsea tried to find their way back into the tie but Gold Stars’ defense remained resolute and thwarted every attempt of the Chelsea attacking machinery.
Gold Stars held on for their first victory in the Ghana Premier League and will be hoping to build on that in subsequent games.
