Medeama SC on Wednesday afternoon secured a place in the quarter-finals of this year’s FA Cup competition after edging out Accra Great Olympics in Tarkwa.

Both sides were looking to secure a place in the next round, having been paired following the round of 32 games.

Olympics were the superior side going into the game as they had picked four out of a possible six points against Medeama this season.

Annor Walker’s side drew with Medeama in the first round of the Ghana Premier League before securing a 1-0 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second round.

They were, however, unable to replicate those performances fully as they were eliminated by Medeama.

Both teams could not find the back of the net in open play and required the use of penalty kicks to decide the winner.

The host then emerged victorious as they netted 5 of their kicks as against Olympics’ 4.

Medeama have now secured a place into the quarter-finals and await to learn their next opponent.

Elsewhere, Elmina Sharks also defeated Tema Youth on penalties to advance to the next round of the competition.
