Milovan Rajevac is the right pilot for the Black Stars – GFA boss Kurt Okraku
President of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Kurt Okraku believes Milovan Rajevac is the right personnel to steer the Black Stars to success.
The Serbian trainer has been re-appointed as the head coach of the senior national team.
The 67-year-old makes a return to the team after an 11- year absence following his departure in 2010.
Rajevac replaces Charles Akonnor, who was relieved of his post two weeks ago following an erratic start to the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking at the unveiling of the 64-year-old on Friday, Mr Okraku said Milovan is the best choice for the Black Stars.
“We want to win the Africa Cup of Nation next year,” he said.
“We believed that needed to change the pilot and we have done that. We believe we have the right pilot for the Black Stars now in place, right the right support system, we believe that our Black Stars will have a stable character going forward.,” he added.
Milovan Rajevac has signed a one-year renewable contract and will be assisted by Otto Addo and Maxwell Konadu.
His immediate assignment is next month’s doubleheader against Zimbabwe.
Ghana will take on the Warriors in Cape Coast on Saturday, October 9, before departing for the return leg in Harare three days later.
Rajevac will also lead Ghana to the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon. He has been also tasked to steer the team to secure a qualification for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar next year.
