President of Republic of Ghana has urged football clubs to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 safety measures following the rise in the cases in recent weeks.
Currently, the country’s active cases has surpassed the 5,000 mark with 450 death recorded.
Delivering his 53rd COVID-19 national address on Sunday, January 31, 2021, the President urge the National Sports Authority and Ghana Football Association to ensure all football clubs followed the laid down protocol and also ensure compliance with the 25% capacity rule.
“The National Sports Authority and the Ghana Football Association should ensure compliance with the 25% capacity rule with spectators respecting the social distancing rule and wearing of the mask,” he said
The GFA even before the Government address have punished Accra Hearts of Oak for violating the covid-19 protocols in their game against Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium.
