Nasiru Moro speaks out after heading opponent
Orebro player Nasiru Moro headed Robin Tranberg and was sent off against Varberg. Now the Ghanaian tells about the experiences afterward.
“The last three days I have not felt well but I have to continue to be strong and try to support the team,” Moro says to NA.
It was in Monday’s Allsvenskan match between Orebro and Varberg that OSK player Nasiru Moro beheaded Robin Tranberg and had to call the red card after 25 minutes of play. After Thursday’s training with the team, the Ghanaian gave his first interview after the expulsion.
“I want to apologize to all Orebro supporters. I’m very disappointed in myself after what happened. In this situation that the team is in, the team needed me and it is not a good time to lose players in this way,” Moro says to NA.
The situation began with Orebro’s Johan Martensson felling Tranberg, who fell forward. Moro then cleared the ball on a lying Tranberg, who got up and handed a push to Moro. That made the OSK player head on.
“When I saw that the ball hit him, I was about to go forward and apologize. But before I could say anything, he (Tranberg) came up and pushed me. But I should not have reacted the way I did, says Moro, who had to follow the rest of the match alone from the locker room.
“I was very sad. I thought I had put my team in a really difficult situation because we needed all our players on the pitch and how struggling everyone was because of me. The last three days I have not felt well but I must continue to be strong and try to support the team.
OSK’s football manager Axel Kjall has said that the team will not punish Moro internally. However, a punishment from the Swedish Football Association’s disciplinary committee awaits. The committee will make its decision on how long Moro will be suspended on Friday, Fotbollskanalen learns.
