Nigeria newboy Ademola Lookman suffers illness ahead of Ghana encounter in WC playoff

Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman is racing with time to recover from an illness in time in order to be ready for the first leg of the tie against Ghana in the playoff of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles will take on the Black Stars in a two-legged encounter in the next eight days to battle for one of the African slots allocated by FIFA for this year’s global showpiece.

Ahead of the first leg meeting this week, Nigeria newbie Ademola Lookman is not feeling well and his official debut for the Super Eagles could be delayed.

The Leicester City forward was just last month given the clearance to switch nationality from England to qualify to play for Nigeria.

Super Eagles head coach Augustine Eguavoen is monitoring the situation keenly but is confident the attacking sensation would recover from his illness in time to play for Nigeria.

The first leg of the tie between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, March 25, 2022.
