Partey, Mensah and Afena-Gyan out of Ghana World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia

The Ghana Football Association has excluded trio Thomas Partey, Jonathan Mensah and Felix Afena-Gyan from the Black Stars traveling squad to South Africa for the World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.

Ghana must beat Ethiopia and South Africa to qualify for the Africa World Cup playoffs and stand any realistic chance of qualifying to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Group G encounter will take place at the Orlando stadium on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 15:00Hrs GMT.

The four-time African Champions will travel to South Africa on Tuesday with 24 players excluding Thomas Partey, Jonathan Mensah and Felix Afena-Gyan.

According to FA, Partey and Mensah could not travel with the team due to injury whiles AS Roma youngster Felix Afena-Gyan has rejected the call up to focus on his development with the Italian club.
