PFAG denounce barbaric attack on Medeama

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has expressed their disgust on the acts of Karela United FC supporters following their attacks on Medeama Sporting Club.

Medeama SC on Sunday suffered a Barbaric attack from the supporters of Karela at the Aiyinase Crosby Awuah Memorial park when supporters of the home fans descended heavily on them with series of attacks.

Midfielder Eric Kwakwa was hit with a stone as he made his way to the tunnel after the first half.

Military men detailed at the venue are had a torrid time to control the home supporters in a highly volatile atmosphere at Aiyinase.

The match was held up several times with fans throwing missiles onto the pitch.

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana has taken to twitter to condemn the level of hooliganism perpetuated by supposedly Karela United FC fans.

“The PFAGofficial is absolutely gutted to hear of the attack on Medeama players at Aiyinase on Sunday

“Hooliganism and thuggery have no place in football and acts of violence perpetrated by individuals cannot be tolerated.

“We wish to assure fans that football has zero tolerance for violence, hence any fan or club that is found to have breached the ghanafaofficial Regulations and Disciplinary Code must be dealt it.

“The FA, fans and the general public should help protect our footballers always.

The Ghana Football Association has since  banned the Crosby Awuah Memorial park indefinitely.
