Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Mustapha Ussif on Monday visited the Black Star players following their arrival for the 2022 World Cup qualifier with Ethiopia.
The visit was to welcome the team and encourage the players to give their best in the game as it commences the journey for Ghana’s 4th World Cup appearance.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif together with the president of the Ghana FA Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku welcomed the players who had arrived in camp at their non-residential camping base.
Led by skipper Andre Ayew, the players also assured of a very good start to the campaign as they take on the Walia Antelopes of Ethiopia on Saturday.
The visit was ahead of the team’s trip to Cape Coast on Tuesday.
Ghana will take on Ethiopia in the opening group game of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers and travel to engage the Bafana Bafana of South Africa three days later.
A win for Ghana against Ethiopia will lay a solid foundation for the team to qualify for the 2022 World Cup after Ghana missed out of the 2018 edition hosted in Russia.
The Black Stars have already secured a ticket for the 2022 AFCON to be hosted in Cameroon in January next year and now keen on securing the double by picking a ticket for the World Cup as well.
With the motivation of the Sports Minister and the Ghana FA President and the strategic plan put in place by the two to secure qualification to the World Cup, Ghanaians are optimistic that the Black Stars will enjoy a brilliant start to the qualifiers.
Below are some shots from the Minister’s visit to the team on Monday before their departure to Cape Coast on Tuesday morning:
