Player Rating : Kudus, Partey and Baba Rahman score high marks as Ghana thump Zimbabwe

Ghana beat Zimbabwe 3-1 in a crucial FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying fixture on Saturday.

Goals each from Kudus Mohammed, Thomas Partey and Andre Ayew propelled the Black Stars to a hard fought win at the Cape Coast Stadium.

FootballmadeinGhana.com rated the performance of the Black Stars players.

Jojo Wollacott (GK) (7/10)- Decent debut by the Swindon goalkeeper. Made some two crucial saves in the second half to denied the Zimbabweans.

Daniel Amartey -( 6/10)- Was deployed out of position due to the absence of Andy Yiadom. Was well composed and didn’t put any foot wrong in the game. Engaged in series of tackles to obstacles his foes from progress.

Jonathan Mensah ( 6/10) – Meant business and was the pillar at the back in today’s game. Kept the visitors attack quite. He had a good aerial duels and was very dominant in the air. The defender made no mistake at the back.

Alexander Djiku (5/10)- The defender did a good exercise today. However, was unlucky to cause a Penalty which led to Zimbabwe’s equalizer. But, overall, another emphatic performance from the Strasbourg defender.

Baba Rahman (7/10) – Perhaps, his best performance in the last 12 months. Baba was good in attacking where he distributed creativity and passes to his teammates. Baba also engaged in series of defense too. Importantly, the Lateral defender assisted the team’s third and last goal.

Thomas Partey (7/10)- Had a decent game after struggling in the first half. Came into the game more after the introduction of Baba Iddrisu. Took his play up, and convert nicely to restore Ghana’s lead to 2-1.

Andre Ayew (c) (7/10) – The Skipper was played out of a position in the first half where he struggled a bit. Engaged in tackles and challenges and won for his side. He played better when he was deployed to his better position to the extent of getting the third and the final game for the Black Stars.

Mohammed Kudus ( 7/10) – The Midfielder was the playmaker in today’s game. His techniques and creativity were just apt. Broke the deadlock for his side, and did a marvelous exercise throughout.

Issahaku Fatawu (6/10)- Debut to remember for the youngster. Was a delight to watch on the day. Made things difficult for the Zimbabwe defense. Was substituted in the second for Baba Iddrisu.

Kamaldeen Sulemana (6/10)- Impressive display from the Stade Rennais winger. Caused a lot of troubles to the visitor. He was unlucky not to be on the score sheet after his strike was disallowed for offside.

Jordan Ayew (5/10)- Assisted Kudus for Ghana’s opener. Draws back to take balls and distributed to his teammates. However, his modus Operandi didn’t yield results as the striker failed to score.

Substitute

Baba Iddrisu (6/10) – Gave balance to the midfield. Intercepted few balls, as well as gave some decent passes. It was after his introduction that the Black Stars went ahead to score two to increase their tally to 3-1.

Benjamin Tetteh (5/10) – The Striker did relatively well after he was substituted into the game. Went in challenges against his foes and won. Had a nice chance on the left side of attack unfortunately he curled the ball away.
