Playing for the Austria is the greatest thing – Kevin Danso
Austrian international of Ghanaian descent says playing for the Austrian national team is the greatest thing to happen to him.
The enterprising defender currently plies his trade for French Ligue 1 side FC Lens and has been explosive.
He has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Lens since joining from Bundesliga side FC Augsburg last summer.
Danso, who made his debut for the Austrian national team on September 2, 2018 at the age of 18 is hoping for a return due to fine form.
He has played for Austria at the U15, U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 levels and made his senior debut at the age of 18 on September 2, 2017.
“I was allowed to put on the team jersey for the first time when I was 14. I wear it with pride, we are Afro-Austrians, it would be a dream for my whole family if I were to be there again,” Danso told Austrian website Kronen Zeitung.
“There is nothing bigger than hearing the anthem playing for Austria.
The central defender dreams of representing the European country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.
“Preferably with Austria at the World Cup. I want to keep developing, getting better from game to game. The rest follows. I’m just grateful to have the confidence here in Lens now.”
Austria will play Wales in the World Cup play-off later this month.
