FootballMadeinGhana.com reported earlier on Saturday that Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have made an official enquiry for King Faisal striker Kwame Peprah.

As the dust begins to settle amid the ongoing chase for the player, FMIG has gathered the reasons behind such a move.

The chase for Peprah who is the top scorer for struggling King Faisal in their fight for survival in Ghana’s top flight this season is influenced by the imminent departure of Kwame Opoku.

Kwame Opoku is Asante Kotoko’s top striker this season. The 21 year old has impressed heavily in his debut season for the club emerging as their top scorer in all competitions with 9 goals.

Opoku is on the brink of joining Algerian side USM Algiers who have agreed a €500,000 deal with the Porcupine Warriors. The former Nkoranza Warriors attacker is set to depart the country to officially put pen to paper on his deal with his new side next week.

With Opoku departing, Kotoko began the search for a capable replacement. On their list they had Bofoakwa Tano’s sensational hitman Welbeck Takyi.

However they decided to back off a move for the Division One League Zone 1 top scorer after seeking opinions from several technical persons and scouts.

Subsequently their radar fell on Kwame Peprah, a player they have been monitoring for a while. They have then decided to step up the chase for his signature with the player also being coveted by Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC.

It is unknown if King Faisal will be willing to let a player who has scored almost 65% of their league goals leave as they try to avoid relegation from Ghana’s top flight.

What is certain though is that Asante Kotoko have money to spend and can turn the heads of the top brass of Faisal with a stupendous offer.

Any deal to sign Peprah needs to be concluded imminently as the second transfer window expires on the 18th March 2021.

We are surely set for an intriguing climax to the window in this 3 way chase for the firing Kwame Peprah.
