Richard Attah earns maiden Black Stars call up for Ethiopia and South Africa 2022 World Cup qualifiers

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah has been handed his debut call up into the senior national team, Black Stars for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will lock horns with Ethiopia and South Africa as qualifiers for the biggest soccer mundial kick-start next month.

The Black Stars will play host to Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday, September 3 before they travel to South Africa for the second game on Monday, September 6, 2021.

Ahead of the much-anticipated qualifiers, head coach of the Black Stars Charles Kwabla Akonnor has announced his squad with the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper no exception following his outstanding performance last season.

The former Elmina Sharks goalie played a key role for Phobians won both the league and the MTN FA Cup titles at the end of the season.

Attah’s superlative performance in the final of the FA Cup earned the Phobians the trophy over Ashantigold saving crucial penalties.

Ghana has been paired in Group G of the qualifiers with Ethiopia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The winner of the group will qualify for the final two-legged playoff which will involve other group winners.
