Hasaacas Ladies have clinched their 4th Women’s Premier League trophy after ruthlessly brushing aside Ampem Darkoa Ladies at the Madina Astro turf this evening.

Yusif Basigi’s side had not won the trophy since they defeated tonight’s opponent in the 2014-15 season for their third consecutive trophy, but they were as determined as ever to bring that drought to an end.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies who had gone unbeaten for the whole of the season, had no answer to the might of Hasaacas Ladies as they succumbed to a 4-0 defeat in the finale.

Both coaches opted to keep most of their regular starters in the team, with Joe Nana Adarkwa keeping faith in the likes of Ophelia who scored 17 goals in the league season.

Captain, Tweneboaa Justice, Priscilla Okyere and Sonia Opoku were also handed spots in the starting XI for the Northern zone champions.

For Hasaacas Ladies, Yusif Basigi also went with her two top scorers in Millot Pokuaa and Veronica who scored 9 goals each.

With both sides having a potent attack, much of the game was  dependent on the team which turned up defensively, and Ampem Darkoa were just not up to the task.

Nana Adarkwa’s side conceded two goals in each half of the game, with all four goals coming from set pieces.

Faustina Nyame gave Hasaacas Ladies the opening goal in the 11th minute after she headed home from a set piece before Evelyn Boadu doubled the lead in the 30th minute from a corner kick.

Doris Boaduwaa then put the icing on the cake, as she netted her 9th and 10th goal of the season in the 70th and 84th minute to give Hasaacas Ladies the 2020/21 trophy.

Despite losing out on a huge margin, Ampem Darkoa dominated the play as they had 54% of possession to Hasaacas Ladies’ 46%, but the later were not fazed by that as they scored from 2 of their 3 awarded corner kicks.

The victory gives Hasaacas Ladies their 4th Women’s Premier League trophy and in the process have prevented the awkward moment of being on par with Ampem Darkoa who were looking for their third trophy.

The two sides will meet again next month in the finals of the Women’s FA Cup before Yusif Basigi’s side participate in the maiden edition of the Women’s Championship League.
