Salisu is the highest-scoring defender on dreamteam’s fanstasy football
13 of the top 15 defenders in Dream Team currently play for Liverpool, Chelsea, or Manchester City, Mohammed Salisu (£1.6m) is the surprise addition.
Southampton’s No. 22 is now the tenth best player in his position, and it’s not only the team he represents that makes him stick out like a sore thumb.
He’s extremely cheap at £1.6m, and he’s the highest-scoring defender under £3.0m!
Salisu has 32 points at this point, pairing him with Andreas Christensen (£4.1m) and Reece James (£5.0m).
So, after nearly five complete Game Weeks, how has the 22-year-old equaled Chelsea’s clean sheet kings?
Salisu scored against Sheffield United on Tuesday night as Saints defeated the Blades in a penalty shootout to go to the Carabao Cup last 16 – always a plus.
And, while the Ghanaian center-back has contributed to two clean sheets, the key to his remarkable point total is the pair of Star Man accolades he’s received.
Salisu had the highest match rating for either team against Manchester United and West Ham.
So far this season, only Adama Traore (£3.0m) has been crowned Star Man more frequently.
