Samudeen Ibrahim keen to obviate ‘Old Player’ Tag
New King Faisal recruit Samudeen Ibrahim believes he has a point to prove, as he fights perceptions about being an old horse in the stable.
Following his latest move to the Kumasi-based side, Samudeen Ibrahim has an opportunity to revive his career after failing to hit the mark at Hearts Of Oak.
As a youngster, Samudeen Ibrahim won the Division One League MVP with King Solomon FC some five years ago and went ahead to sign a deal with Hearts. However he couldn’t deliver as expected and departed the club in 2019 following the expiry of his deal.
Now, 24, Samudeen Ibrahim is certain he can still thrive in the local league and believes the King Faisal adventure presents an opportunity to convince many who doubt him.
“Many people have know about me in the yesteryears and are getting to hear my name again, so they think I am an old player,” he told footballmadeinghana.com in N exclusive interview.
“Often times, Ghanaians have this perception that irrespective of your age, provided you’ve played the league for a long time, you’re considered too old. Then they start tagging you as such.
“That perception has become a canker and is killing many talents. Many have also turned their back on the league because of this because such attitude kills the spirt of players.
“If you are not mentally strong it affects you. So it forms part of my challenge at King Faisal to play to make people aware they need to do away with such mentality,” he concluded.
Samudeen Ibrahim is in line for his debut with his new side when they take on WAFA this weekend as the second round of the Ghana Premier League commences.
