“Senegal and Netherlands are favorites of Group A – El Hadj Diouf on World Cup draw
Senegal legend El Hadj Diouf has tipped his country and Netherland to progress from Group A to the next stage of the World Cup.
The current AFCON champions were handed what is widely seen as a kind draw in Doha on Friday.
The Teranga Lions will face three-time runners-up the Netherlands in their first game before clashes against Qatar and Ecuador.
“Senegal and the Netherlands are favorites of Group A. And the first match to be played against the Netherlands will be decisive,” said the two-time winner of the African Footballer of the Year awards,” El Hadj Diouf told CAFOnline.com.
“The Lions must come with all guns blazing. They must raise their level of play to get by,” insisting that the quality of Senegal players must help the African champions to go far.”
He added, “We have the best goalkeeper, the best central defender and the best striker in the world.”
El Hadj Diouf was part of the historic Teranga Lions squad that reached the quarter-finalist of the 2002 World Cup.
The Fifa World Cup takes place between 21 November and 18 December.
