Sports Minister tasked to work on Chelsea star’s nationality switch

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif has been tasked by Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo to commence the process for the nationality switch of Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The 20 year old is currently holidaying in the country after a season that saw him win the UEFA Champions league title with his club Chelsea.

Hudson-Odoi was born in the UK to a Ghanaian father, Bismark Odoi who played for Accra Hearts of Oak, A big football club in the country.

He has represented England at various youth levels and made his senior national team debut in 2019.

However, the winger has not been invited to the Three Lions squad in recent times, prompting football connoisseurs in the country to get the Ghana FA to convince him to play for the Black Stars.

Following his visit to the Jubilee House to meet President Akuffo Addo, the president shared his desire to see the you gster represent Ghana’s national side.

In his engagement with him, he mentioned this and asked the Sports Minister to follow up md initiative the process of getting the player to switch national teams.

It remains to be seen how far this goes. Ghana has a history of getting players born abroad with links to the Country to represent the national team at major tournaments.

The famous of them all has to do with Kevin Prince Boateng who was one of the main stars for the Black Stars at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
