StarTimes delivers on world-class coverage of Ghana Premier League match week 1

StarTimes delivered on its promise to provide world-class coverage of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season starting off with the match week 1 games last weekend.

Four games were telecasted live on TV for viewers and customers starting off with the opening game of the season between Accra Lions and Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night which ended 1-1.

The second game telecasted live on TV was on Saturday between Dreams FC and Asante Kotoko followed by the doubleheader on Sunday between defending champions Hearts of Oak -Legon Cities and Real Tamale United and Great Olympics.

The production was top-notch from the pre-match discussions right through the live games and the post-match interviews.

Our checks on the StarTimes App during live games were impressive indicating Ghanaian football fans have subscribed to the StarTimes broadcast of the Ghana Premier League.

The first week’s coverage saw StarTimes providing viewers with live player tracking and stunning augmented reality graphics that helped viewers in better understanding the strategies of the game with an ultimate storytelling experience for viewers.

A total of 150 live matches will be aired this season with at least 4-5 games per match-day, Marketing manager of StarTimes Ghana Akorfa Benson disclosed.

“As Television rights holders of the Ghana Premier League, our objective is to attract the attention of the football fans and increase the commercial clout of the GPL to raise its commercial value on television.

“For the 2021/22 season, StarTimes will deliver a much bigger television production and broadcasts.

“With our modern sports broadcast solutions, we will provide viewers with live player tracking and stunning augmented reality graphics that will help viewers better understand the strategies of the game and to provide the ultimate story-telling experience for our viewers,” she stated

Arkofa Benson added: “StarTimes will invest over $1million in the production and promotion of the competition.

“StarTimes will, in this season, broadcast 150 live games on television with an average of 4-5 live games per match-day. StarTimes shall also make available one live game on free-to-air Max TV to improve the exposure of the league…”
